Module S5 (Issue 10 September 2021)
TBW may be introduced in track circuit block areas (other than single lines) when there is extensive failure or disconnection of signalling equipment.
It allows you to pass two or more consecutive main aspect signals at danger.
There will be a handsignaller at the entrance and exit signals to relay the signaller's instructions.
RT3184 (see below)
RT3184 is not required when:
assisting a failed train
more than one locomotive
Obey the red signal
Follow the handsignaller's instructions
You will be handed the RT3184 ticket
Do not move until shown a yellow handsignal
Handsignaller removes detonator
Tell guard
Carry out TPWS temporary isolation
Receive yellow handsignal
Sound horn and proceed
Obey any instructions on the RT3184
Max speed 50mph (50mph over points unless instructed)
If told you're the first train through: approach points at caution, check they are in the correct position, and no more than 15mph over points
Disregard AWS warnings
Stop at exit signal
Obey the red handsignal
Hand the RT3184 to the handsignaller
Reinstate the TPWS
Inform the guard
Only proceed when the handsignaller displays a yellow handsignal
If given authority to pass signal at danger you must use TSO
Proceed at caution
