The rule book changes regularly and we try to make sure that the content is accurate and up-to-date. However, this is all done in our limited spare time, so if you spot any errors please do let us know.

Due to popular demand we've added a new section on Working Single and Bi-Directional Lines by Pilot.
We've added two new quizzes to our quiz pages - Personal Track Safety and DC and AC Electrified Lines.
We've added a new index page for our collection of revision questions. Currently these include speeds revision and the first in a series of rules revision pages.

Running brake tests has been updated to reflect a change to SWR company-specific instructions.
We're launching a series of online quizzes to help you to help you revise and test your rule book knowledge. We've updated and moved our old speeds quiz to a new platform and we'll be adding more online tests over the coming months.

A new section on train accidents and trains put in danger has been added, to set out the major changes introduced to Module M1 and Module TW1 (section 45) in the June 2026 rule book update. This includes a downloadable flowchart that illustrates the process.
A second new section on evacuating a train has been added to reflect the recent changes in Module M1.
Assisting a failed train has been amended to reflect that there is no longer any requirement to place emergency protection if a train has failed during extended block working.
A new page has been added on bell / buzzer codes.
